A wig stand/mannequin head, wig bag, or satin storage can help maintain the style and prevent unnecessary tangling.
STRAIGHT
Use a wide-tooth comb or an appropriate wig brush.
Apply heat protectant before using hot tools.
Avoid unnecessary excessive heat.
Wrap/store properly after wearing.
BODY WAVE / LOOSE WAVE
Finger-comb or gently detangle with a wide-tooth comb.
Use lightweight products to maintain movement.
Refresh the waves as needed without overloading the hair with product.
CURLY / DEEP WAVE
Work in sections.
Finger-detangle or use a wide-tooth comb.
Refresh curls with water and an appropriate lightweight moisturizing product as needed.
Avoid aggressively brushing the hair while dry if it disrupts the curl pattern.
WASH DAY
Detangle before washing.
Use lukewarm water.
Wash gently instead of rubbing or bunching the hair together.
Condition and rinse thoroughly.
Air-dry whenever practical.
